A delegation composed of 364 athletes, 122 coaches and 129 other officials led by Schools Division Superintendent Socorro dela Rosa is now competing for medals in the 2023 Modified Palarong Bicol being held April 24-27, 2023 in separate venues in Albay and the cities of Legazpi, Ligao, Naga and Tabaco.
With the opening ceremonies held at Ibalong Centrum of Recreation (ICR) concluded in Legazpi City last April 23, the actual games began the next day, with the awarding ceremony and closing program to be hosted by the Schools Division Office of Naga City.
According to SDS dela Rosa, 96 athletes and 29 coaches, assistant coaches, chaperons, officiating officials and Technical Working Group (TWG) members are billeted at Guinobatan Central Elementary School. They are competing in the team games of baseball, football, futsal and softball hosted by Albay SDO.
Ninety-four athletes and 91 officials are staying at Cabangan ES in Legazpi City, where they will battle it out with the other qualifiers in basketball, billiards, boxing, sepak takraw, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.
In Ligao City, where arnis, chess, dancesports, and badminton events are being held, 48 athletes and a similar number of officials are at Ligao West Central ES.
The largest group at 175 (97 athletes and 78 officials) are billeted at Carolina ES in Naga City and competing in archery, athletics, gymnastics, swimming and weightlifting events.
Tabaco City SDO is hosting four events, with Catanduanes’ 29 athletes and 17 officials competing in pencak silat and taekwondo. The island has no entry in wrestling and wushu.
