Fishing competition featured in Pandan’s 2023 Dinahit Festival

Registration is now open for anglers interested in bagging the top prize in the fishing competition of the 2-2023 Dinahit Festival sponsored by Mayor Raul “Takoy” Tabirara this April 19 at Pandan Seashore Park.

Open to all Catandunganons, the contest registration is being done thru the link https://tinyuri.com/2023/dinahitjigging.

Each team will be composed of two (2) anglers per boat who will catch fish within the Pandan municipal waters from 3 AM to 3 PM. Those without personal flotation device will not be allowed to leave the shore.

Participants will use only rod, reel, line and hook with no limit on the number of rods and reel, as well as on hooks, main and leader lines.

Organizers said that trolling, jigging, casting and baiting is allowed but the use of handline, spearfishing, “sprikitik” and net is prohibited.

Coolers must be submitted at the check-out station and inspected, along with the boat, prior to take-off.

The use of sodium cyanide and dynamite fishing is strictly prohibited and could subject the violator to criminal prosecution.

Any catch that are not on shore after 3 PM shall not qualify as entry for the tournament.

Anglers are reminded that endangered species are not allowed as entry and must be released back to the sea.

The organizers also recommended that anglers use photographic or video documentation as evidence for the catch, which must be submitted at the check-in area for data recording.

The winning team will be that with the heaviest accumulated catch and will get the champion’s prize of P15,000.00. The first runner-up and second runner-up will earn P10,000.00 and P7,000.00, respectively.

A special award will be given to the boatman of the team with the heaviest catch.
