A 32-year-old construction worker was yielded a loaded gun and a sachet of shabu in a sting operation conducted by the Catanduanes police in Virac last week.
The suspect was identified as Francisco Arroyo Sorreda, also known as “Kanor” and a resident of barangay Marcelo Alberto.

Joint personnel of the Virac municipal police station and the Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit launched the gun buy-bust operation against the worker last April 20, 2022 at Purok 3 in barangay Concepcion.
A law enforcer posed as the buyer of the gun being sold by the suspect and was able to take possession of a Cal. 38 revolver loaded with three bullets after giving Sorreda P4,000.
A body search also yielded a plastic sachet of suspected shabu.
Twin complaints for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive and Ammunition Regulation Act in Relation to COMELEC Resolution No. 10741 (Election Gun Ban) and RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 have been filed against him.
The police said Sorreda had been arrested before and jailed for possession of illegal drugs and is considered the leader of the Sorreda gang in Virac believed responsible for theft and robbery incidents in the capital town as well as for the sale of guns and illegal drugs.
