Live-in-partners’ quarrel triggers hacking spree

Police personnel and barangay officials in Caramoran quickly responded to a report of a hacking incident Wednesday evening last week and apprehended the suspect who quarreled earlier with his live-in partner.

The report stated that the man was under the influence of liquor and armed with a bolo when he engaged in a heated argument with his partner last March 25, 2026 in barangay Salvacion where family members were marking a death anniversary.

Two relatives tried to intervene in a bid to pacify the individual and prevent further escalation but the suspect turned his ire on them and suddenly attacked them with the bolo.

One sustained hack wounds to his back and left knee while the other, a woman, suffered a wound on the left side of her head.

A third individual who attempted to assist the victims after witnessing the initial assault was also hacked on his left hand.

All three victims were reportedly residents of the same house along with the suspect and his partner.

Barangay residents transported the three victims for treatment at the Caramoran District Hospital in Datag West.

Acting on the information relayed by Barangay Chairman Maribel R. Solmiano, personnel from the Catanduanes 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd PMFC), 3rd Maneuver Platoon, and the Iyao Detachment of Philippine Army successfully neutralized and arrested the suspect.

The 15-inch bolo used in the commission of the crime was also recovered at the scene.

The suspect, who was not identified in the report, remains in custody of the Caramoran MPS and will face multiple criminal charges for Frustrated Murder.
