A tricycle driver from the relocation site in San Isidro Village, Virac was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Virac police last week.
Intelligence operatives led by PCpt. Rhandy R. Rapesora apprehended Ryan Capasite Rubia, 35, as soon as he handed over a plastic sachet containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu to a police officer posing as a drug user.
The operation, which was coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 5, went down in barangay Danicop at 5:04 PM of Dec. 10, 2025.
Two more sachets of the prohibited drug were confiscated from the suspect, as well as the genuine P500 bill and two fake ones used in buying the illegal drug, a blue Vivo cellphone and the yellow Rusi tricycle that Rubia was using at the time.
He will be charged for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, for the sale and possession of dangerous drugs.
In a related development, a pouch found by an employee of the Virac municipal government while walking along the boulevard turned out to contain suspected marijuana leaves.
The 56-year-old worker from Salvacion picked up the brown pouch at the barangay’s section of the Imelda boulevard at 11 AM of Dec. 10, 2025.
At the police station, duty investigator PCpl. Daryll Baliza discovered that the pouch contained a small zip-lock plastic containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana and a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue.
The contents of the pouch will be subjected to laboratory examination to confirm its nature.
