Police nab Baras’ No. 1 Most Wanted

A manhunt for the No. 1 Municipal Most Wanted Person in Baras ended late Friday night, Nov. 21, 2025 when a joint police operation captured a 58-year-old worker accused of statutory rape.

The apprehension of the suspect at 11:20 that evening in barangay Genitligan was spearheaded by the Baras Municipal Police Station, with support from personnel of the Regional Special Operations Unit 5 (RSOU 5), the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and San Andres Municipal Police Station, the mission

The unnamed man was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 43 Assisting Judge Candice Guada Cresilda Cortes Almodovar-Tordilla in connection with Criminal Case No. 11712.

Due to the serious nature of the case, the court recommended no bail for his temporary liberty, ensuring he remains detained pending trial.

Following the operation, Catanduanes Police Provincial Director PCol. Elmer R. Cereno commended the units for their effort and efficacy and further issue a warning to those who commit sexual crimes.

“This arrest sends a clear, non-negotiable message. We will relentlessly pursue all suspects involved in sexual crimes and ensure they face the full force of justice.” said the island’s top cop.
