A resident of Caramoran who failed to show up in an Albay court for the hearing of a criminal case against him was apprehended last All Saints Day in Caramoran town.
Elements of the Caramoran police arrested the 57-year-old accused, identified only as “Ote,” while he was preparing to go to the cemetery at 2:30 PM of Nov. 1, 2025 in barangay Panique.
The police said the man has been accused of the crime of illegal discharge of firearms before the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Bacacay-Malilipot.
He was granted bail and temporary freedom but he failed to attend subsequent hearings, prompting the Court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
In another development, a resident of Binanuahan, Bato surrendered a Cal. 45 pistol with two magazines containing 23 bullets to the Bato police station last Nov. 2, 2025.
According to the man, he was going home after bringing his brother to work in Virac when he spotted a black sling bag on the road in Sta. Cruz.
When he opened the bag and saw the gun inside, he immediately brought it to the police team assigned at the assistance desk established at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Cemetery.
After proper receipt and documentation, the gun is now in custody of the town police for safekeeping and investigation.
