Prov’l School Board changes policy on school repair funds

In realigning its current budget and finalizing the 2026 allocation, the Provincial School Board has made one major policy change: its fund for school repair will no longer be divided among the 268 public schools identified as needing repairs.

In last week’s meeting presided over by Governor Patrick Alain T. Azanza, the board decided to place a high priority in the 2026 budget on educational support programs, with a primary focus on the “Support to Aral Programs for Public Schools” and funding for Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) activities.

A specific allocation of PHP 2.5 million was earmarked for a major repair of one school after the board moved that the substantial amount should be concentrated on a single significant repair project rather than being distributed as insufficient funds among all school buildings needing repair.

For the 2026 National Teachers’ Day Celebration, Provincial Board Member (PBM) Edwin Tanael proposed a comprehensive benefits package for all participating educators, including those from preschools and Child Development Centers (CDCs): 10 kilos of rice, a T-shirt, and food during the event, with the benefits to be released in batches.
