3 “tupada” bettors to face court after arrest

Police personnel in Panganiban town apprehended three cockfight aficionados last week after the local court issued warrants for their arrest in connection with a case filed against them for illegal cockfighting.

Fishermen Mark dela Peña Tugano, 35, and Rodel Santos Villasana, 40, both residents of Panay, were collared by Panganiban police at 8:50 AM of July 30, 2025 in barangay Sta. Maria.

Ten minutes later, officers of the Catanduanes 2nd Police Mobile Force Company took into custody one Michael Dela Cruz Castro, 61, a construction worker also from Panay.

The trio were charged for violation of Presidential Decree 449 (Cockfighting Law of 1974) as amended by PD 1602, docketed under Criminal Case No. P-1597 lodged before the sale of Presiding Judge Lilibeth Ranara-Danglosi.

Bail for the suspects’ temporary liberty has been set at P18,000 each.
