
The Schools Division of Catanduanes’ campus journalists stamped their class in four events in last week’s 2025 National Schools Press Conference held in Vigan, Ilocos Sur where the Bicol delegation emerged on top of the elementary level.
Justine Beaver Cabrera of Catanduanes National High School won 1st place in Sports Writing (Filipino), with Jefferson Arcilla as coach, and was chosen as Most Outstanding Campus Journalist of the year as icing on his celebratory cake.
In the elementary level, Jeremiah Madayag of Virac Pilot Elementary School took top spot in Science & Technology Writing (English), with Joanah Imee Magtagnob as coach.
In the group events, a team of pupils from Juan M. Alberto Memorial Elementary School in Virac and San Andres Central Elementary School was declared champion in Collaborative Desktop Publishing (English).
The team, composed of Gio Luis Alistair Vargas, Carl Jacob Tabios, Hailey Alushta Vargas, Kendralyn Matienzo, Celine Ku, Zeith Kyle Phoebus Tablizo, Jasmine Zuniega, were guided by coaches Sophie Joy Tabuzo, Mary Joy Tabuzo, Rhona Columna and Arlene Lumabi.
With Ricky Tid as campus paper adviser, Ang Pithaya, the school paper of Tinago Elementary School, clinched 2nd place in the search for Best Sports Section (Filipino) in the school paper category.
In the secondary level for the Best Sports Section (English), the Catanduanes National High School’s The Synchronizer won 5th place with Jefferson Arcilla and Aimee Soquerata as campus paper advisers.
