Criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 have been filed against a tricycle driver from San Miguel town who was caught in a buy-bust operation last week.
Arjay Floranza Fernandez, 33, married, a resident of Kilikilihan, was arrested by personnel of the San Miguel police led by police chief PMaj. Jonnel Bonguyan and elements of the Catanduanes Police Intelligence Unit shortly after he sold shabu to an undercover police officer at 4:48 PM of Jan. 22, 2025.
Confiscated from Fernandez as evidence was a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu which he had handed over to the poseur buyer in exchange for cash, another plastic sachet containing the same substance that was later found in his possession during a search.
The police also seized several non-drug items, including a small white folded paper, a black canister canister containing drug paraphernalia, nine (9) pieces of aluminum foil, a cigarette lighter, an empty heat-sealed plastic sachet, a genuine P500 bill and fake P500 bill used in the buy-bust operation, and the Kawasaki Barako 175 motorcycle with sidecar that Fernandez was using at the time.
Due to heavy rains, the inventory was conducted at San Miguel Municipal Police Station in barangay Boton in the presence of the suspect and the mandatory witnesses.
