6 youth organizations win in 2024 Rokyaw awards

Sinag Kabataan and UP Catandungan Los Baños grabbed most of the project awards but a Baras youth group was the big winner in the inaugural ROKYAW Most Outstanding Youth Organization Awards Program 2024.

In the results announced last week by the Provincial Youth Development Office, the Adolescent Health and Youth Development Organization of Baras was chosen as Most Outstanding Youth Organization, earning for the group a cash prize of P50,000.

Four initiatives of the Sinag Kabataan, founded in 2022 by youth leader and now Provincial Board Member Fred Benedict T. Gianan, garnered awards as Most Outstanding Youth Project in separate categories: Project Grad-waiting (Economic Empowerment), Project Sinag Starlink (Global Mobility), Project Ataman (Peace-Building and Security), and Project SinagKabuhayan Yapak: Kabataan Job Fair 2023 (Social Inclusion and Equity). Each of the project awards carried a prize of P10,000.

UP Catandungan Los Baños had three wins: Halo-Halo 2019: Second Serving (Active Citizenship), Turaok (Governance), and Project GiveAByte (Education).

Alpha Kappa Rho-Marlboro Chapter was selected as Most Outstanding Youth Serving Organization while its Piggy Bank Para sa Kapaligiran Project was likewise chosen as Most Outstanding Youth Project in Environment.

Lauded as Most Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan was the Pagsangahan, San Miguel SK while United Volleyball Enthusiasts of Virac’s MacFit Program was chosen as Most Outstanding Youth Project in Health.

Established through Provincial Ordinance No. 020-2020, the ROKYAW Outstanding Youth Awards Program 2024, establishes an incentive-based awards program for the Most Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), Most Outstanding Youth Organization, Most Outstanding Youth-Serving Organization and Most Outstanding Youth Project of the Province of Catanduanes.

The program aims to search for and recognize the contributions of Youth Organizations, Youth-Serving Organizations, and Sangguniang Kabataan in local governance and nation-building; to confer awards to deserving and outstanding Youth-Serving Organizations and Sangguniang Kabataan for their exemplary achievements and projects; and to motivate and inspire the youth sector in Catanduanes to actively participate in local governance and contribute to nation-building.

For the project to be eligible for the Most Outstanding Youth Project Award, it shall be in accordance with the Local Youth Development Plan and Philippine Youth Development Plan that promote the centers of youth participation
