Viga, Panganiban are nat’l awardees in 2024 Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit

The municipalities of Viga and Panganiban are among the 12 local government units in the Bicol region honored by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for their top-performing Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (ADACs).

Aside from the two Catanduanes towns, the other national awardees from the region in the 2024 ADAC Performance Audit are Cawayan and Milagros in Masbate; Barcelona, Bulan, Casiguran and Sorsogon City in Sorsogon; Basud and Mercedes in Camarines Norte; and Legazpi City and Oas in Albay.

The ADAC Performance Awards honor top-performing Anti-Drug Abuse Councils that successfully meet the prescribed functionality indicators and implement effective anti-illegal drug interventions and initiatives to curb drug abuse within their communities.

Local Anti-Drug Abuse Councils were evaluated based on their functionality to ensure continuous improvement, enhance performance, and bolster their effectiveness in implementing, monitoring, and assessing anti-illegal drug efforts, while recognizing innovative and replicable practices.

The ADAC performance award is given to LGUs that passed the following eligibility criteria: an overall performance score in the functionality audit of 100 points; the LGU does not have any serious affected barangays for the audit year 2023; and the LGU possesses institutional integrity.

The ADAC Performance Audit is conducted annually to assess the functionality and effectiveness of local ADACs based on existing issuances and policies; determine ADAC-initiated and/or endorsed innovations, and best practices at all levels; create an evaluation, assessment platform; and recognize effective and performing ADACs.
