San Andres woman finds loaded firearm while cleaning her house

A housewife in San Andres was cleaning her house in the afternoon of Oct. 24, 2024 when she accidentally found a Cal. 38 revolver loaded with six bullets, the town police reported.

The report did not state the identity of the woman, the barangay and specific location where the firearm was found.

The gun was immediately surrendered to the police station, which is continuously campaigning against loose firearms, appealing to owners of unregistered firearms or those with expired papers to temporarily surrender their guns to the police for safekeeping during the firearm registration process.

San Andres acting chief of police Capt. Francis T. Tabo called on the community to support the police campaign so that anyone with an unlicensed firearm could escape criminal cases should the gun be found on them without the proper documents.

The police officer likewise stressed during the election period, the illegal possession of firearms is strictly prohibited, with violators to face criminal charges as well as violation of the gun ban under the Omnibus Election Code.
