Not only did the leadership of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) successfully hold its year-end command conference but it got a boost for its fire safety awareness campaign from the provincial government and the local government unit of Virac.
During the Welcome Night sponsored by the provincial government, Vice Governor Peter Cua, who represented Gov. Joseph Cua, turned over nine (9) units of 55-inch Ultra High-Definition Smart TV sets to the BFP Catanduanes provincial office headed by Provincial Fire Marshall Glen Rodrigueza.
The turnover was witnessed by BFP Chief Fire Director Louie Puracan, Deputy Fire Chief for Operations Chief Superintendent Wilberto Roco Neil Kwan Tiu, BFP 5 Regional Director Chief Supt. Ricardo Perdigon, Provincial Board Member Robert Fernandez, and Provincial Administrator Eulalia Talaran.
The TV sets will be used for the implementation of the Oplan Ligtas Program, Fire Safety Education and Awareness campaign, and other community-related activities of BFP Catanduanes.
According to the local chief executive, this initiative reflects the province’s commitment to supporting the bureau and its mission.
Vice Gov. Cua also shared the many initiatives of the local government in support of BFP-Catanduanes, including providing the BFP-Special Rescue Force access to the PDDRMC Radio Tower Building at the Provincial Capitol Compound; a newly constructed kennel for K-9 search and rescue dogs; sponsoring a free review for Fire Officer I applicants; and continuous lobbying for fire trucks to stations in Catanduanes.
During the BFP Year-End Agency Performance Planning and Review Conference for CY 2023, which was held concurrently with the Provincial Fire Marshall/Deputy Fire Marshall Summit 2024, at Rakdell Inn in Virac from February 19 to 21, 2024, the Virac LGU, represented by Mayor Samuel Laynes, formally signed the Deed of Donation with the BFP covering the 1,000 square-meter lot that would be the site of the new Virac Central Fire Station.
The chief executive was earlier given the authority by the Sangguniang Bayan of Virac headed by Vice Mayor Arlynn Arcilla to donate the portion of land inside the Community Hub at San Isidro Village to the BFP in order to strengthen the delivery of services to Viracnons.
The Command Conference, presided over by FDir. Puracan and attended by all BFP Regional Directors and top-level officers, along with the Command Group, served as a platform to identify strengths and areas for improvement within the organization to enhance the delivery of services to the public.
It also delved deeper to comprehensively review accomplishments, address issues, and plan strategic initiatives in the continuous commitment towards modernization.
