Albay man nabbed here for taking wife’s motorcycle

A resident of Albay province wanted by the Regional Trial Court in Legazpi City on a carnapping charge was arrested in Virac last week.

Personnel of the Virac Police Catanduanes Provincial Intelligence Unit (CATPIU), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Catanduanes Provincial Field Unit and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RFMB) 5 apprehended Joven Benedito Jadie, 42, jobless and a resident of Purok 2, Bigaa, Legazpi City, last Dec. 23, 2023 at 9:20 PM in Danicop, Virac.

Jadie is the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by RTC Branch 4, Legazpi City, Presiding Judge Donnabel Breva-Bobier last Sept. 13, 2023 for the crime of violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 (Republic Act 10883 and docketed under Criminal Case No. 17196 with recommended bail bond for his temporary liberty fixed at P300,000.00.

According to a ranking police officer at Camp Francisco Camacho, Jadie had quarreled with his wife and left her but took with him the motorcycle that was unfortunately registered in her name.

It is claimed that he escaped to the island province where he allegedly has a girlfriend.

As of presstime, Jadie was still being held at the custodial facility of the Virac MPS before he would be escorted to Legazpi City.
