In an overpowering performance, the Catanduanes Bagwis team is headed to the 2023 Palarong Bicol after routing opponents in the recently concluded qualifiers held in Tabaco City.
The delegation headed by Division Sports Officer Aroline Borja was declared champion in nine of 10 team events at the end of the Regional Invitational Clustered Qualifying Meet for Team Sports (RICQMTS) last March 11-12, 2023.

Catanduanes was in Cluster C along with Tabaco City and Legazpi City in the battle to qualify for slots in the seven team sports of baseball, basketball, football, futsal, sepak takraw, softball and volleyball in the Bicol Meet. The other nine divisions were also in three separate clusters.
It may be recalled that the Department of Education (DepEd) modified the format of the regional sports meet to avoid large gathering and expenses as well as limit class disruption in public schools.
The Futsal Secondary Girls blanked Tabaco City, 12-0, while Football Elementary Boys champion overpowered its opponent from the same city via 6-0 shutout.
On the other hand, the Secondary Football Boys wrested the crown from Tabaco City team, 3-0, a feat eclipsed by the Softball Elementary’s win by default.
The Elementary Sepak Takraw Boys beat Legazpi City’s best, 21-13, and its counterpart in Secondary Girls swept the team from Tabaco City, 21-6. The Secondary Boys team, however, consoled itself with a first runner-up finish.
Both teams in Elementary and Secondary baseball also emerged champions in their respective matchups.
