CatSU inks MOU with Bicol University on sharing of academic resources

In a historic and favorable development, the Catanduanes State University last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bicol University on the sharing of academic resources, including the use of BU’s hospital for the training of CatSU nursing and medicine students.

The agreement, inked last Sept. 27, 2022 by CatSU President Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza and BU President Dr. Noli Mascariñas, realizes a dream of Catandunganons to have a working relationship with BU due to its proximity to the island and also because of the vast resources and opportunities that can be shared by BU with CatSU and vice versa, Pres. Azanza said in a statement on his Facebook page.

One of the primary areas of cooperation is the Faculty and Student Exchange for research and study, including but not limited to the Nursing, Medicine and Juris Doctor programs.

Under the agreement, BU will allow the use of its tertiary hospital for the hospital training of CatSU nursing and medicine students as well as permit nursing and incoming medicine and law students of CatSU to cross-enroll at BU.

Also covered are academic consultations, participation in seminars and academic meetings, extension activities, joint research collaboration, sharing of faculty and research/library resources, promotion and peer review of research outputs, co-sponsorship of national and international conferences and research publication opportunities, publication of articles in each other’s Journals, exchange of educational materials, research publications and instructional information, provision of expertise in areas of strength of both parties, and sharing of technologies generated through research, among others.
