The fire that blackened the interior of a two-storey residential house in Bagamanoc town last July 29, 2026 was allegedly caused by an overloaded electrical circuit.
It was claimed that this was the likely cause as the entire structure made of concrete and wood began burning almost at the same time instead of the fire beginning from one spot.
In properly installed electrical connections that comply with the National Building Code, an overload would have shut down power through the circuit breaker or fuse.
The building was allegedly completed before the municipality began requiring building permits.
Firefighters from Panganiban and residents armed with plastic pails assisted personnel of the Bagamanoc Fire Station in putting out the blaze that broke out at the house of a former town councilor, preventing it from spreading to the neighboring houses.
According to the official report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), one Randy Tulay arrived at the station at 5:09 PM of July 29, 2026 to report the structural fire at the two-story concrete and masonry house owned by former Councilor Romeo Pascua along Araneta St. in barangay Poblacion
In two minutes, the Hino firetruck driven by FO2 Mark Tenerife, together with the Fire Suppression Team led by officer-in-charge SFO1 Richard Cabrera and composed of FO1 Melbert Tanael, FO1 Peter Andrew Vergara, FO1 John Chris Trapago, FO1 Jan-Carlo Torillos, and FO1 Gibran Banila, sped to the scene and arrived at about 5:14 PM.
Assessing the situation and raising the response to 1st Alarm, Ground Commander SFO1 Cabrera and the team immediately commenced tactical firefighting operations.
Ten minutes later, two firetrucks of the Panganiban Fire Station and its Fire Suppression Team led by FO2 Monica DJ Tumala and composed of FO1 Tuson, FO1 Tasarra, FO1 Padilla, FO1 Sarmiento, and FO1 Peñaranda, arrived and assisted in the firefighting operations.
SFO1 Cabrera declared the fire under control at 5:30 PM and fire-out at 5:45 PM, with the teams conducting overhauling operations to ensure that the fire would not rekindle.
No casualties were reported in the blasé, with none of civilian or BFP personnel sustaining any injuries.
The BFP has yet to issue a report as to the damage wrought by the incident which affected both the first and second floors of the building.
According to a local official, the ground floor was being used as a repair for electrical and motor works as well as motorcycles.
