TGP’s Teves heads House party-list coalition; Mayor Paolo elected treasurer of nat’l LMP

Cong. Jose Teves Jr. Mayor Paolo Teves

TGP Partylist Rep. Jose J. Teves Jr. and his son, Baras Mayor Jose Paolo S. Teves III, had twin reasons to celebrate last week, having won key positions in separate organizational elections recently.

Last Oct. 6, 2025, Cong. Teves was elected as the new president of the Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc. (PCFI) at the House of Representatives, replacing resigned Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, during a general assembly.

In his address to the coalition members, Teves vowed to restore the “good public perception” of the party-list system through “genuine public service.”

“Sa ating pagkakaisa, baguhin na natin ang lahat at ibalik ang tunay na imahe ng party-list…madami ang nagsasabing na wala namang naitulong ang party-list, some are even pushing to abolish the party-list system,” Teves remarked as he urged his colleagues to serve not for themselves but for the people.

“Huwag tayong manahimik. Tumutol tayo kung may nakikita tayong hindi tama sa ginagawa ng ating mga kapwa lingkod-bayan,” he added.

Four days earlier, Baras Mayor Jose Paolo S. Teves was chosen as national treasurer of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP).

The Catanduanes LMP president joined Echague, Isabela Mayor Faustino “Inno” A. Dy V and the rest of the national officers in taking their oath of office before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Oct. 7 at the  Kalayaan Hall of Malacañang Palace, where the president called on local government units (LGUs) to help restore the people’s trust in the government.

Mayor Dy’s election as LMP President brings together 1,493 municipal mayors nationwide under his leadership, reinforcing collaboration among local governments in promoting inclusive growth, rural development, and improved public service delivery.
