A forest protection officer of the DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) turned over a loose firearm that he found on a mountain in Baras during the conduct of surveillance and monitoring operation against illegal logging activities.
In its report, the Baras police station said that the PENRO employee went to the station on Sept. 9. 2025 and voluntarily turned over to assistant police chief PCpt. Rhandy Rapesora, the Armscor 200 Cal. 38 SPI revolver without serial number that was discovered at around 3:30 PM of Sept. 8 in the mountainous area of barangay Macutal.
Meanwhile, a resident of Gogon Centro, Virac was arrested recently to serve his sentence for a qualified theft case.
Rommel Tato Canilao, 46, a civilian security guard, was taken into custody in Barangay Francia by joint elements of the Virac police station led by PMSg. Richard Pereyra and CIDG Catanduanes Field Unit on the basis of the warrant issued by RTC Branch 42 Acting Presiding Judge Ritche Reyes Regala under Criminal Case 8039.
