Department heads of the provincial government of Catanduanes are now in the thick of preparations for the Executive Briefing to be rendered to the incoming Governor, Patrick Alain T. Azanza, and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by the new Vice Governor, Robert A. Fernandez, on July 1, 2025.
Last week, in a meeting with key Capitol officials, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office lead by Director Uldarico Razal Jr. discussed the structure of the State of Local Governance Summary to be presented during the briefing on the first day in office of the Newly Elected Officials (NEO).
This is in line with the implementation of the NEO PLUS Program, which the briefing a key activity in the transition process for the new local officials.
In the June 16, 2025 orientation meeting at the Governor’s Conference Room, the DILG emphasized that the briefing is designed to provide the new officials with a comprehensive snapshot of the State of Local Governance in the province, including the identification of challenges and priorities and the formulation of initial courses of action that could be pursued.
The department heads, who are expected to contribute to the SLG Summary, expressed full support and cooperation to the briefing, noting the importance of presenting a clear, data-driven, and honest assessment of the province’s governance performance.
The Executive Briefing will serve as a formal venue to turn over such information to the incoming officials in a manner that promotes continuity, accountability, and strategic foresight, the DILG stated.
As the lead coordinating agency, the DILG Catanduanes underscored its commitment to facilitating a seamless and empowering transition process in the province, a critical step in ensuring that the new set of leaders are equipped with the necessary knowledge and context to lead effectively from Day One.
