Active members and pensioners of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) can now access faster and more efficient services at the 360˚ Digital Business Center which opened for business last week at the Virac Extension Office.
At the blessing and launching ceremony last Feb. 19, 2025, GSIS Vice President for South Luzon Ireen Dimaano congratulated the GSIS team for another milestone and testament to its commitment to provide faster, more responsive and high-tech services to its clientele.
While small in size, she said that the facility will have a big impact on its delivery of services to members and pensioners as proof of the agency’s bid to keep its transactions and members’ records transparent.
Open Mondays to Fridays from 8 AM to 5 PM, the business center is equipped with a tablet featuring the GSIS Mobile Touch App, enabling members and pensioners to process transactions without having to wait in line.
The app, which can be downloaded to smartphones and tablets, allows users to apply for loans, check balances, view records, and complete other services traditionally handled at counters.
“Members and pensioners no longer need to go to the GSIS office for the required face authentication,” VP Dimaano pointed out, as the same can be done in the comfort of one’s home.
“For the benefit of its members and pensioners, GSIS will strive to improve its services and procedures,” she stressed.
The GSIS official later told guests that the Digital Business Center will be replacing the GSIS kiosks installed in selected provincial or municipal halls, malls and major government offices.
She said that the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GW@PS) Kiosks are already outmode and some parts are no longer available, so there is a need to upgrade to new technology.
In remarks delivered by Provincial Administrator Eulalia Talaran, Governor Joseph Cua lauded GSIS for another milestone in advancing public service as the government navigates the evolving digital landscape.
Describing technology as a driver of progress, the chief executive said the DBC will provide convenient, transparent and efficient services to its clients through the online platform.
On the other hand, Virac Vice Mayor Arlynn Arcilla said the local government, particularly the Sangguniang Bayan, welcomes the new innovation of GSIS as it similarly looks after the welfare of government employees.
She also thanked VP Dimaano for the GSIS’ donation of tables and other furniture for use of some LGU offices.
In a brief interview with the Tribune, Legazpi Branch Manager Virgo said GSIS Virac remains an extension office of the branch but due to the increasing number of active members and pensioners in the province, it could be considered for upgrading into a full branch in the next reorganization of the System.
Extension Office head Maria Theresa Vega disclosed that her office now provides services to a total of 10,851 clients, with over 7,000 of them active members.
