A resident of Calatagan Proper in Virac was instantly killed last week in a motorcycle accident that the police blamed on reckless driving and intoxication.
The report of the Virac police station identified the victim as housewife Maridel Oclares Rivera, 32, who was driving a Rusi Passion scooter registered to her live-in partner at the time of the mishap that occurred at 1:45 AM of Dec. 11, 2024 along Imelda boulevard in Rawis.
According to the report, Rivera was driving the scooter along the boulevard towards Maudelle’s Restobar when she failed to turn right upon reaching a sharp curve along the coastal road.
Instead, she went straight into the concrete gutter, with the impact throwing her into the pavement and causing an undetermined amount of damage to the vehicle.
Informed through a call, Virac police personnel immediately the Emergency Medical Team of the Bureau of Fire Protection, which rushed her to the hospital where Rivera was declared dead on arrival due to traumatic head injuries by attending physician Dr. Graciela Guerrero- Rodulfo.
