SP, FICELCO to push for prompt ERC on power issue

Married couples who want to have a more personal, intimate and deeper relationship with God are invited to attend the Christian Life Seminar to be held by the Missionary Family of Christ (MFC) this Nov. 16-17, 2024 at the Risen Christ Social Hall in Virac.

Widowed, separated or unmarried men and women are also invited to the free weekend seminar that will enable participants to be more open to the power and action of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

We have been members of this religious community since 2015 and we can attest to its positive impact on our lives.

Praying for guidance and praising God together through our households help us survive the challenges of these modern times, getting us through the pandemic.

Please feel free to contact the MFC through its district servant, Bro. Greg & Lucy Sarmiento, or its Messenger account.

Although there were no representatives from the ERC or DOE during its meeting last Oct. 30, 2024, the SP’s Committee of the Whole managed to learn that SUWECO has already filed its Motion of Reconsideration with ERC regarding the latter’s dismissal of its joint application with FICELCO for the approval of their 1st Amendment to the Electricity Supply Agreement (ESA).

To speed up the resolution of the issue, the SP as well as the FICELCO Board of Directors are set to pass separate resolutions urging ERC to act on the SUWECO motion as soon as possible.

If the motion is dismissed, the cooperative may be forced to ink an Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) with SUWECO to cover the projected shortfall in deliverables under the 1st Amendment although sources say it still has some production to the cooperative that is covered by government subsidy.

The power to be delivered under the EPSA, which needs no approval from ERC, will be at a costly P23 per kilowatt-hour, which is the True Cost Generation Rate (TCGR).

On the other hand, SUWECO can join the Competitive Selection Process (CSP) for a new supplier being planned by the cooperative during the next eight months.

FICELCO is still waiting for the approval of the CSP’s Terms of Reference (TOR) which is pending before the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

The clock is ticking though, as insiders say the plan calls for the CSP invitation to qualified power suppliers to be published by December.

It is fortunate for consumers that the projected brownouts due to SUWECO’s scale down of production is not being implemented fully due to slightly lower demand.

THE WEDDING. Attending a wedding for the first time, a little girl whispered to her mother, “Why is the bride dressed in white?”

“Because white is the color of happiness, and today is the happiest day of her life,” her mother tried to explain, keeping it simple.

The child thought about this for a moment, then said, “So, why’s the groom wearing black?”
