Atty. Mary Aubbrey Leigh Barrameda Lim

A pure-bred daughter of Virac, Atty. Mary Aubbrey Barrameda Lim, recently obtained her Master of Law (LLM) degree from the renowned University of Cambridge in England.

Prior to entering one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious educational institutions, Atty. Lim applied for and secured a slot as a scholar of the competitive Chevening scholarship program of the government of the United Kingdom and the Cambridge Trust.

A daughter of Hector and Janet Lim of San Roque, Virac, she completed her primary and secondary studies at Virac Pilot Elementary School and Catanduanes State University, where she graduated class salutatorian and valedictorian, respectively.

She obtained her BS Accountancy Degree from the University of Santo Tomas main campus in Manila where she graduated Magna cum Laude and class salutatorian.

Ms. Lim completed her law studies at the Ateneo de Manila University where she landed at top two of her class.

Currently she is a partner at Inicio Law, the Philippine member firm of KPMG Law, making her one of the youngest law firm partners in the country.

Chevening Scholarships are part of a prestigious UK Government postgraduate funding scheme specifically for international students, offering an annual scholarship competition for Masters programmes designed to develop international leadership and expertise.

The scholarships are fully funded from flights and accommodation to course fees, leaving the scholar free to focus on achieving his or her professional goals.

Chevening Scholarships are for talented professionals who have been identified as potential future leaders across a wide range of fields, including politics, business, the media, civil society, religion and academia.

In countries like the Philippines where University tuition fee, the Cambridge Trust scholarship is awarded to those who have qualified for the Chevening program.

On the other hand, the Cambridge LLM (Master of Law) is a nine-month taught master’s degree intended for those who wish to pursue further legal studies.

LLM students take four courses of their choice from the list of about 30 course offerings specifically tailored for the LLM program.

The notable alumni of Cambridge University include Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking, and King Charles.
