Virac market guard caught in shabu buy-bust

Joint elements of the Catanduanes police arrested a newly identified illegal drug personality in a buy-bust operation along Imelda boulevard in Rawis, Virac at midnight of Saturday evening (Aug. 3, 2024).

The report stated that personnel of the Virac police station, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) and the Catanduanes Police Intelligence Unit (CATPIU) conducted the operation that caught Edward Ilagan Tatel, 30, a resident of Sogod Tibgao working as a guard at the Virac public market, in the act of selling a sachet of shabu to an undercover police officer at 11:55 PM that night.

Confiscated from him were a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu that was the subject of sale and another sachet containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana inside his right pocket.

The police also seized as evidence the piece of paper that contained the shabu sachet, a genuine P500 bill and two bogus P500 bills used as buy-bust money, and the Rusi motorcycle used by the suspect during the transaction.

He will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, for the sale and possession og dangerous drugs, respectively.
