After six months in hiding, one of the Bicol region’s Most Wanted Persons, a Virac resident accused of three counts of rape, has been arrested in Batangas province.
Last Feb. 27, 2024 at 5 AM, joint elements of Virac police station with the Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG) Catanduanes Provincial Field Unit and the Padre Garcia police station of the Batangas Provincial Police Office, led by Subpoena Warrant PNCO PSMS Joselito Tubo served the warrant on Franz Abundo de Leon, 22, a factory worker and resident of Rawis Virac, at his hideout in at sitio Camaring, barangay Castilito, Padre Garcia, Batangas.
The accused has been accused of the crime of rape under Republic Act 8353 docketed under Criminal Case Nos. 10926, 10927 and 10928 before the sala of Virac Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 43 Acting Presiding Judge Ritche Reyes Regala, with no bail recommended.
Meanwhile, Virac barangay tanods on foot patrol caught a student in the act of stealing a motorcycle in barangay Francia last week.
Francia barangay tanods Sonny Morales, Julius Maturan and Joel Barba were on patrol on their assigned beat at about 1:40 AM of March 1, 2024 when they spotted the 18-year-old suspect stealing a black Suzuki Raider 115, owned by Manzueta Francisco of Valencia, while parked inside the compound of the Plateros boarding house.
