A 19-year-old student from Baras town has been apprehended by the police in connection with a rape complaint filed against him by a minor.
Personnel of the Baras police station led by PSSg Froilan Gianan effected the arrest of Christian Jake Herrera Peñafiel in barangay Genitligan last Jan. 19, 2024 on the basis of a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 43 Acting Presiding Judge Ritche R. Regala pursuant to Criminal Case No. 11031 for Statutory Rape in relation of Republic Act 7610 with no bail recommended.
Also known as “Caloy,” the suspect is reportedly included in the regional police’s list of Most Wanted Persons.
“The police is not resting in its campaign to apprehend all wanted persons to give justice due to their victims,” Baras police chief Capt. Denver Romero said as the PNP assured that police stations are always open to provide the necessary assistance to victims of abuse along with other government agencies.
In Virac, a 53-year-old farmer facing a court case for acts of lasciviousness was collared by law enforcers led by PEMS Joselito Tubo also last week.
Joselito Ortega Reyes, a resident of Constantino,has been charged under Criminal Case No. 11065 with bail recommended at P10,000.
