The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Catanduanes spearheads the celebration of 3rd National Statistics Month in the province this October 2022 with the theme “Boosting the Country’s Recovery with Informed Decisions, Better Policies.”
It aims to promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society and to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
The annual observance of the NSM is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, “Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month,” issued on 20 September 1990 by then President Corazon C. Aquino.
The theme emphasizes the critical role of statistics in crafting the most appropriate decisions and policies that are needed to boost efforts for recovery. As the country’s recovery continues to take off, public and private sectors both play important roles by providing and producing the right data, actively participating in economic activities, and making informed decisions out of relevant available information.
In line with this, PSA Catanduanes Provincial Statistical Office has scheduled the following activities related to the celebration: display of streamer in front of the office premises; display exhibit with updated Statistics on results of 2020 Census of Population and Housing-total population, Vital Statistics for 2021 by municipality, Inflation rate from January to August 2022, 2021 Poverty Statistics and Agricultural Statistics for 2021; conduct of Radio Program; launching of 2022 Countryside in Figures (TBA); and posting of social cards on different statistics in the province on official FB Page of PSA Catanduanes.
Likewise, other agencies are encouraged to display streamers and conduct other activities in relation to the celebration of the 33rd National Statistics Month.
